End of course post

Dear students,

I know it's a little bit late, but I just want to take the time to CONGRATULATE those of you who have passed the course! You have done a tremendous job and I'm so very proud of you!

I also want to THANK YOU for the wonderful time that we spent in class together. You made getting up at 7 in the morning actually exciting sometimes :'). You made the classroom a happy and comfortable place to which you'd always want to come back.

I couldn't be more grateful for the sweet messages that I received from some of you! Nothing makes me happier (as a teacher and as a person) than when I know that I have made a difference in your life or inspired you in any possible way. Be sure that I'll always support you and help you in anything that I can.

I hope I could at least give you something nice to remember
I miss you already

Sincerest wishes,
Ms. Tasneem Solie

Dearest students,

Your final exam is approaching and it's time to do a little bit more effort. I'm pretty sure you're capable of doing great things. These files were sent to all tutor to review with their students. I will go over parts of them in today's class (grammar mostly). You can download them and have fun with them :P You can ask me if you don't know or not sure about the answer.

and here's some Frank Sinatra for you

Work a bit harder and have lots and lots of coffee (:
Good luck!

The Present Perfect Tense

Dear students,

Please make sure that you study the present perfect tense and that you know the difference between all the English tenses that you have studied so far. I have found these two videos on YouTube that I think will be very useful for you. They are a bit long but they include everything you need to know and more

Part 1

Part 2

Exercise:

Make negative to these sentences:

•I have studied Philosophy.
•My sister has improved her English.
•They have visited Greece many times.

Make wh- questions

oThey have been to Europe 5 times.
oShe has learned to play the guitar at school.
oI have left my umbrella in the kitchen
oMy friend has 3 cats at home.

Do not hesitate to share any questions you may have.

Best of luck!

Comparing Japan and Kenya

Dear students,

I hope you're having a great time. As I promised you in yesterday's class, I'm going to post pictures of the information you need to compare Japan and Kenya organised into tables hoping that it will make the writing process easier for you.

Here's also the model answer to compare with your answer after you're done writing. Focus on the use of simple past passive and remember to always use passive in Academic English writing. Also since this is a comparison, you will need to use a lot of comparative adjectives. Make sure you use them correctly.

Have fun!
and Happy Halloween!!

P.S. I'd love to see a pic of your costume if you're going to dress up;)
